Insect Pollinator’s Role in Fruit Setting of Prosopis cineraria (L.) Druce

The experiment was conducted in the Ecology Field, Arid Forest Research Institute, Jodhpur (Rajasthan), India during 2020-21 to explore role of insect pollinators fruit setting P. cineraria. For conducting experiments one branches selected trees covered with a mesh bags exclude floral visitors (pollinator exclusion). other branch kept uncovered for time (open pollination). Our findings revealed that average set under pollinator exclusion (bagged condition) nil whereas it 2.02% open natural pollination. This study confirms previous studies cineraria is cross–pollinated species. Also, moisture content found be 10.75 % seeds and 49.21% carbohydrate pods pollination, germination percentage 71.3% seedling vigour index 655.2. Present also calculated seed weight, length, breadth, thickness obtained above experiment.
